Niet alleen maken we ons zorgen over de fundamentele gezondheid en veiligheid van onze werknemers, gezinnen en dierbaren, de pandemie heeft ook ons vermogen getest om ons aan te passen, te herontdekken&#8230; en in real-time te overleven. Retailers zijn erg creatief geworden in <em>hoe<\/em> ze verkopen, <em>wat<\/em> ze verkopen en <em>aan wie<\/em> ze verkopen<\/p>\n<p>Consumenten hebben zich ook aangepast aan de nieuwe mindsets en winkelgewoonten in de retail. Wat vijf of zes maanden geleden vreemd leek, wordt nu steeds meer routine. En wat consumenten v\u00f3\u00f3r de pandemie zouden hebben gedefinieerd als de &#8220;must haves&#8221; van een positieve klantbeleving, is ook ge\u00ebvolueerd.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mood Media heeft onlangs een onderzoek uitgevoerd onder 8.000 consumenten in vier landen &#8211; de VS, het VK, Frankrijk en China &#8211; om een beter inzicht te krijgen in het huidige koopsentiment.<\/strong> Voorts wilden wij begrijpen hoe (en of) dat sentiment zou kunnen verschillen tussen landen die zich in verschillende stadia van herstel bevinden. In de maand augustus stelden we 2.000 shoppers per land een aantal vragen over hun huidige winkelgedrag, hoe dat is veranderd (of niet is veranderd) sinds deze crisis toesloeg, en wat de oorzaak zou kunnen zijn van specifieke veranderingen in gedrag.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wat hebben we geleerd?<\/strong> <strong>71% van de consumenten wereldwijd &#8211; en 68% van de consumenten in de VS &#8211; zegt zich &#8220;enigszins&#8221; of &#8220;zeer&#8221; op hun gemak te voelen om terug te keren naar de fysieke winkel nu lokale en federale overheden de regelgeving inzake lockdown beginnen te versoepelen.<\/strong> In feite zegt 67% van de shoppers over de hele wereld dat ze al zijn teruggekeerd naar <em>niet-essenti\u00eble <\/em>winkels. In de VS daalt dit aantal tot 60%, en in het VK tot slechts 50%. Chinese shoppers, die het langst te maken hebben gehad met de pandemie en het trage herstel, lijken zich op dit moment het meest op hun gemak te voelen met 81% die erkent niet-essenti\u00eble aankopen in de winkel te doen. Dit wordt gevolgd door Frankrijk, waar de lockdown-regels ook iets eerder versoepeld zijn, met 77% van de Franse consumenten die zeggen dat ze teruggekeerd zijn naar het niet-essenti\u00eble winkelen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maar nu shoppers beginnen terug te keren naar fysieke winkels, betekent dit niet dat hun angst achter hen ligt.<\/strong> Wereldwijd voelt 80% van de consumenten zich gerustgesteld door nieuwe veiligheidsmaatregelen die zij in de winkel zien en horen, <strong>49% van de consumenten over de hele wereld &#8211; en 60% van de consumenten in de VS &#8211; maakt zich nog steeds zorgen dat zij tijdens het winkelen het virus kunnen oplopen.<\/strong> Van degenen die sinds de pandemie in een fysieke winkel hebben gewinkeld, beschrijft 65% van de Amerikaanse shoppers de klantbeleving als &#8220;niet hetzelfde&#8221;, en 23% beschrijft het als zo anders dat ze zullen proberen te voorkomen snel terug te keren.<\/p>\n<p>Deze &#8220;algemene nervositeit&#8221; onder consumenten heeft ook geleid tot een verandering in het gedrag in de winkel. <strong>Veel consumenten spenderen minder tijd in de winkel&#8230; en minder geld per bezoek.<\/strong>. Deze consumenten zijn &#8220;mission shoppers&#8221; geworden, die zo snel mogelijk naar binnen en naar buiten willen. <em>Slechts 3%<\/em> van de shoppers over de hele wereld geeft aan per bezoek <em>meer <\/em>tijd en <em>meer<\/em> geld uit te geven.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dus&#8230; waar is de kans? Het berust nog steeds binnen de kern klantbeleving<\/strong>. Degenen onder ons in de fysieke retail moeten blijven nadenken over elk aspect en elke stap van de klantbeleving en manieren vinden om onderweg de angst te verminderen en de veiligheid te garanderen. <strong>We moeten maatregelen nemen om het winkelend publiek te helpen zich te ontspannen en wat zij omschrijven als een algemene nervositeit te temperen. We moeten hun pleitbezorgers voor de veiligheid worden.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We moeten rekening houden met zaken als In-store Commercials en Digital Signage die het winkelend publiek informeert over de stappen die het merk neemt om een schone omgeving te cre\u00ebren. We moeten ervoor zorgen dat het winkelend publiek die schoonmaakpraktijken daadwerkelijk ziet plaatsvinden en dat <em>alle <\/em>werknemers de bezorgdheid van het winkelend publiek serieus nemen. Zoals vele retailers hebben gedaan, moeten we ons opnieuw toeleggen op zaken als contactloos betalen en click &amp; collect langs de weg of in de winkel om de bezorgdheid weg te nemen.<\/p>\n<p>Als de consumenten op dit moment een effici\u00ebntere in- en uitgangservaring willen, laten we er dan voor zorgen dat wij hen die bieden. <strong>Wij kunnen ons bezighouden met manieren om de zaken langzamer te laten verlopen zodat er meer wordt rondgekeken en langer wordt stilgestaan als wij eenmaal aan de andere kant van dit ding staan.<\/strong> Voorlopig moeten we manieren vinden om hen sneller te leiden naar wat zij nodig hebben, manieren om hen sneller door het betalingsproces te loodsen, manieren om hun comfort te verhogen bij het winkelen in &#8211; en terugkeren naar &#8211; onze winkels.<\/p>\n<p>En natuurlijk kunnen we schijnbaar eenvoudigere dingen doen, zoals de muziekafspeellijsten in de winkel opnieuw bekijken om de Mood wat te verlichten en\/of ervoor zorgen dat onze winkels fris en schoon ruiken. <strong>Zintuiglijke elementen zijn nog steeds belangrijk, misschien wel meer dan ooit.<\/strong> We moeten zoeken naar mogelijkheden voor kleine &#8220;vreugdemomenten&#8221; die de winkelbeleving &#8211; en de gemoedstoestand van het winkelend publiek &#8211; wat vrolijker maken. <strong>Bij onze inspanningen om vloeren en oppervlakken te steriliseren, die absoluut belangrijk zijn, moeten we oppassen dat de winkelbeleving zelf niet steriel wordt. We kunnen nu tenslotte allemaal wel een extra glimlach gebruiken.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Het goede nieuws is dat we hier overheen komen. Hoewel de consumenten in ons onderzoek van mening verschillen over <em>hoe snel<\/em> zij precies denken dat hun winkelgewoonten weer &#8220;normaal&#8221; zullen worden, gelooft de overgrote meerderheid van de shoppers dat het zover zal komen. <strong>De kans om nu op te treden en de klantbeleving te verbeteren kan een levenslange klantenbinding cre\u00ebren.
